models own eyelash curlers

A good pair of eyelash curlers are essential to my beauty regime. I find that they make my eyes look so much more bright and awake. I used to use a very old pair of boots own brand curlers which never really did anything other than cut my eyelids to shreds *shiver.*

I bought the Models Own Eyelash Curler up from Boots for £6.00 a few months ago, and I never really expected much as I was used to the crappy one I was currently using. But I actually love these so much more than I ever thought I would! The handle is engineered to be easy to hold and steady your hand to create fuller and more defined lashes. I also really like that it is pink, but I guess that doesn't really matter!

I find that I can get quite close to the root of my lashes very comfortably, and just a few pumps gives me lovely curled lashes! Just see the photos below!

((Left: natural lashes --- Right: using the Models Own Eyelash Curler))

I've read a few reviews of people not liking these, but I really do. I find them comfortable and easy to use, and they also deliver awesome results. You also get a spare white soft cushion which is good too, and my eyelashes stayed crimped almost all day! Overall: much love for this nifty product.

Have you tried these curlers before?

l'oreal telescopic mascara

My favourite mascara of the moment! L'oreal Telescopic has a thin, plastic brush that clings to the lashes and coats them in the product to deliver super long and thick peepers. The "innovative" lengthening fibre formula is designed to build intensity and elongate lashes.

I found that this mascara got better the older it got, if that makes sense? At first, this was way too wet and sticky and just make my lashes droop down. However, once it began to get a little bit drier, it was a lot easier to work with. The first coat goes on very smoothly, and then any additional layers really begin to build up the eyelashes and create that "false lash" effect which I love!

I really like the packaging of this mascara, too. The wand is very easy to hold and manoeuvre as you apply it. The flat base also means you can stand it easily which is quite handy!

This has got a plastic brush, which some people don't like but I find them easier to work with then wands with bristles. Be careful not to poke yourself in the eye with this one though as it is a killer! You can buy this for £10.99 from Boots, but always check for offers first as they are on quite frequently!

Have you tried this mascara before??

things i've used up no.1

1. Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritz
I love the normal version of this toner, but I think the spritzer version is so much nicer! It comes with the signature earthy-floral Liz Earle scent which I actually find relaxing, but don't worry about the fragrance as I've found that it doesn't break you out or feel heavy or drying. I find this super refreshing to use on a morning and it really soothes, brightens and wakes up my skin. It feels very gentle yet revitalising on my sensitive skin and it is also alcohol free which is great! You can get the 200ml spritz version for just £13.50 from the Liz Earle website, I think this is excellent value for money as this bottle has lasted my just over a year and I use it every single day! I will definitely be repurchasing this!

2. Blistex Relief Cream
I don't know about you but I suffer from incredibly sore lips even during Summer. It can get very painful and looks generally unappealing. The Blistex Relief Cream is a thick, white cream that soothes and conditions. This stuff is incredible and is packed full of active ingredients such as Camphor to soothe, Lanolin to protect and Peppermint Oil for a touch of freshness. I use this for my dry, sore lips but it can also be used on cold sores as it has ammonia and phenol which help to relieve pain and kill germs! I didn't realise that this is actually listed on the NHS Official Website, which just shows how loved and trusted this is! It's just £2.59 from Superdrug -  a complete staple in my lip care routine!

3. L'Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil Face & Eyes
When I bought this, I had just run out of my current cleanser and was looking for something different. When I picked this up, I was drawn in by the claim that is "instantly dissolves make-up, even waterproof." And I have to say that this really does work! It is hard working yet light-weight, luxuriously oily yet not greasy at all. It re-balances and purifies for healthy looking skin that feels perfectly clean without feeling stripped, dehydrated or tight. The texture of my skin feels so much better and smoother and looks incredibly radiant. It retails for £7.99 but is currently on offer for £5.33 at Boots!

4. La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
This anti-blemish cream is specifically formulated to target oil and blemish-prone skin. My skin isn't oily, in fact it is very, very dry but I was hoping that this product would really help with my spots. It is described as being clinically proven to correct the appearance of blemishes, unclog pores and refine the look of skin texture. I found that this didn't irritate my sensitive skin and it felt lovely and velvety to apply. Unfortunately, however, this didn't really help my skin in terms of spots and blemishes. If anything, it seemed to make them worse. I don't know why this didn't work for me, as I have heard many raving reviews of this "wonder" product and my friends really like this too. You can find it on the La Roche Posay website.

5. Bioderma Crealine H20
If you haven't heard of this product then you must've been hiding under a rock somewhere. This has been super hyped up over the past few months in the world of beauty. Everyone has tried it and seems to love it, much like the Effaclar Duo. But again (surprise, surprise!!) I didn't love this as much as I had hoped This micellar water is designed to cleanse skin, remove impurities and wipe away make up on sensitive, normal and dry skin. This did clean my skin but I found that I had to tug at my eyelids to remove any mascara or eyeliner, and my skin felt slightly stripped. Maybe it's just me and my weird skin but paying £17 for a make up remover, I expect it to be mind blowing! Just goes to show that not everything is worth the hype. It is now a little bit easier to get in the UK, and you can order it from Escentual or eBay!

6. Origins Clear Improvement Face Mask
I am so sad that I have used all of this mask up! The Clear Improvement Face Mask helps to clear out all the pollution, dirt and debris from under your skin to stop pores getting jammed and clogged. My skin always looks and feels so much clearer and fresher after I have used this, and I really can feel that it has been deeply cleansed. The activated Charcoal within this thick, grey mask acts like a magnet to draw out pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental pollutants and Lecithin dissolves impurities. This is great for keeping spots at bay and also soothing angry blemishes even after they rear their ugly head! This is available for £22.00 from Boots.

7. Versace Red Jeans Eau de Toilette
This was the first perfume that I ever used, and it is still a firm favourite in my collection. Red Jeans is very sweet but has a unique touch, and it meant for the young-at-heart. I find this to be very fruity with notes of Peach, Blackcurrent Apricot and Freesia. But it is also quite floral due to the Violet, Rose and Lily of the Valley, with base notes of Sandalwood, Vanilla and Musk. I would highly recommend this fragrance, it is super easy to wear to still makes an impact. The packaging is also beautiful and will forever remain a great memory for me. You can buy this for a mere £12 from Superdrug, but it is usually on offer online!

no7 revitalising hand saviour

As I write this the rain is pouring out of the sky and the wind is blowing so hard I think my house might blow away to Oz. In Winter time, my hands end up dry and horrible due to the cold and other extreme weather, so I like to treat them once a week to a nice scrub like this one.

The No7 Revitalising Hand Saviour is a very moisturising but exfoliating scrub that sticks to your hands nicely so it doesn't go everywhere and make a mess. I got this product in a gift set at Christmas, but you can buy the 75ml for £11.50 from a Boots store or online.

Described as an "all-in-one treat," this product contains salt crystals to gently smooth and renew the skin on your hands. What I love about this product is that although it gives good exfoliation, it is also super moisturising and kind on dry palms. With a nourishing blend of almond and grapeseed oil, hands feel soft and silky. The added touch of Brazilian cupuacu butter, an intense moisturiser, helps to naturally boost the skin's moisture levels.

Although it may not be a flattering photo, I wanted to show what the product actually looked like. You can see just how packed full of beads and natural oils it is! Shake up the tube, squeeze some out and rub your hand together as it you were washing them under the tap. I also like to take this opportunity to rub the oils into my cuticles and push them back slightly, the results are amazing! You then simply rinse under warm water and pat dry to reveal gorgeously fresh hands!

Overall, I really love this product. I find it does wonders for my skin and my hands feel so bright and well treat afterwards! A must have, in my opinion!

palmer's cocoa butter formula lip balm in dark choc & mint

During the colder months, my lips usually have a total breakdown and cause me quite a lot of trouble. The mix of freezing temperatures and central heating (and maybe the lack of water - oops)
make my lips dry, flaky and just downright painful.

I used Vaseline for many years but found that they never really helped my lips in the long run, it just provided temporary relief until I slicked another layer on a few hours later. I already know that the Palmer's Cocoa Butter range was great for dry skin, so when I saw this little balm I decided it would probably deliver the same good results!

I was right! This product comes in a twist up tube and smells absolutely delicious, seriously. A lovely scent of chocolate mixed with a touch of mint, it is almost good enough to eat. I wouldn't recommend that though. When applied to the lips it provides relief from any discomfort for a good 2-3 hours before you may want to reapply. What I like most about this product is the fact that it actually feels like it is helping my lips stay moisturised for longer on days where I don't feel like wearing this. My lips are in much better condition than they were a few weeks ago before I started using this.

I've already recommended this to some of my friends because I really, really like it. It retails for around £1.99 in Boots, and I would advise anyone who suffers from the same dry lips as me to buy this 100%.

let's talk boots

I have a very strong belief that every girl should have a good selection of boots. They can be worn all times of the year and look amazing with everything. Team a floaty dress with chunky boots in Summer, then cosy up in a jumper, jeans and lace up boots combo in Winter.

I'm going to talk you through my favourite items from my collection!

The Statement Boot:

A statement boot can really bring an outfit together. These oxblood coloured Chelsea boots from New Look go amazing with an all black ensemble. They have quite a bit of a grunge touch to them, but the little heel brings them back from the realm of darkness to a world of toughened up feminine chic.

The Work Boot:

A nice pair of work boots are a must have. This tan pair from Office get a lot of wear out of me and look amazing with a nice dress and tights. I think the tan colour, simple design and little heel make things look just that little bit put together and formal, which makes a pair like these really good for office days.

The Everyday Boot:

By far, these are my most worn boots. Simple yet stylish, a black pair of Chelsea boots get a thumbs up every time! These ones are from Next but you can get your hands on something similar from almost anywhere now. These look great with everything: dresses, skirt, jeans, trousers.. You name it, these will do it!

tierry mulger alien edp

Almost every Christmas my boyfriend buys me a new perfume. It's like our little tradition! This year he bought me the Tierry Mulger Alien Eau de Parfum. This is the non refillable 30ml version which retails for around £40+ depending on where you shop. It's at Boots currently for £43.50, whereas the refillable it around £60+ so there is are different versions for different budgets.

First of all, I really like the packaging of this perfume. An exquisite deep amethyst purple glass bottle with shimmering gold details made to look like a jewel, this looks lovely on every dressing table! It stands up very well and doesn't roll or fall over, something which really annoys me when buying expensive perfumes... What's the point if your can't stand it up to show it off?!

This fragrance is inspired by an amethyst, which symbolises calmness and serenity. It is a very distinct yet mysterious scent which I also find quite soft and comforting. It is described as conveying "passion, sensuality and the essence of absolute femininity. A scent like no other, it is irresistibly appealing and totally out of this world." Nice! I would say that it is very unique, I used to be able to smell this everywhere but could never work out what it was until one day I ended up just asking a complete stranger what perfume they were wearing as I just couldn't get it out of my head!

It is quite a rich floral yet woody smell at the same time, containing jasmine sambac, cashmeran wood and white amber. It smells absolutely divine, a lovely spritz of this on a night out is a sure fire winner!

v05 give me texture instant oomph powder

Surely I'm not the only one who suffers from super limp, lifeless and dull hair on the day it's been washed. My hair is pretty fine, but there is a lot of it, so when I get out of the shower and let it dry it goes so flat and soft that I find it very difficult to style and just deal with in general.

The V05 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Power helps to bring some body to this situation! The fine powder has a slight scent that I actually quite like. You shake the bottle up and then dust it lightly over the roots and lengths, and then rub in with fingertips. This nifty little product helps to add a little bit of grit and texture to the hair. I love using this on my roots to add some lift and volume to just washed locks.

For just £4.19 from Boots this is a great product! Just be wary about how much you add, as it can build up very easily and can quickly become too much, but once you learn how much your hair can handle this is a little life saver!

(It is also worth checking out the offers that are on in Boots, at the minute it's two for £5 on selected V05 hair styling products!)

botanics soothing eye make up remover

I'm always on the hunt for a new eye make up remover as I seem to go through them like nothing else! I've tried countless brans and products, and so far I haven't been completely blown away by any of them! I mean, they all do the job eventually and remove most of my mascara/shadow/liner, but most of the time I'm left with sore blotchy eyes because I've had to sit and rub them for twenty minutes!

I then found the brand Botanics in Boots, and though I was onto a winner! A "soothing" dual phase product that you shake together to create a solution that is supposed to remove all traces of make up in seconds. Sounds too good to be true, right? Right! You shade the bottle to mix the oil with the watery liquid, and then douse a cotton pad with the mixture. I then held each cotton [ad over my eye for a few seconds and hoped that it would being breaking up the mascara. No. It did take off my make up in the end, but I came at a cost.

I was left with bright red, bloodshot eyes that stung so bad it felt like I had just poured acid into them (no joke.) This isn't my definition of "soothing." You can see from the photographs just how oily this product is (it wouldn't surprise me is this is what has been the cause of my breakouts recently) but I never expected it to be this bad! My skin was left with a horrible, uncomfortable greasy film over it and I could barely see as the oil covered my eyes. Am I going too far now? I don't know. I understand that it says "avoid contact with eyes," but my entire eye area hurt like a mother trucker!

All I know is that I don't like this one bit! The reason it is so empty is because I accidently spilt some the first time I used it by knocking it off my dressing table in a mad dash to the bathroom to save my face from this product. I'm going to give the rest to my mum or cousin if they want to try it, after that it's going in the bin. It isn't something I can work with at all, I do have sensitive skin/eyes but nothing has ever made me react in the way this did. Boo.

Have you tried this product before? What were your thoughts?

accessorise baked bronzer duo in bondi

Today I wanted to share with you my current favourite bronzer! I bought this from Superdrug for £6.00 and I know that they sell it in store, but I could only find it here online.

First of all, just look how beautiful this product is! The packaging is gorgeous with the metallic gold butterfly details and the actual bronzer itself is just something else. One half of the product is a shimmery highlight and the other half is a marbled bronzer.

What I like about this product is that it isn't too pigmented so you can build it up to suit yourself. When I'm fairly tanned, I go quite heavy on the bronzer but when I'm very pale I just like to sweep this gently over my face to warm it up slightly. I usually just swirl the brush through both halves of this bronzer duo, but when I travel I only take this one product and use the other half specifically as a highlighter!

The packaging is a little battered (apologies) but it's only because I use it so often! I use the Real Techniques Blush Brush to apply it and this is the only brush/bronzer combination I have used for months now because I just love it so much. It is the perfect shade for me, applies like a dream and doesn't look muddy or too brown on my fair skin. It's blend able and easy to build up without getting too cakey. I just love it!

clarins beauty flash balm

I've never really dabbled in the world of primers. I have tried some cheaper ones such as the Nivea one and a Body Shop one, but never really found that they did much for my skin or make up. It kind of felt like I was adding an unnecessary layer to my face.

I bought a Clarins set from duty free when I was in the airport on the way to Tenerife last year, and discovered a whole new world of skincare.. including this! I love the way this make my face feel silky smooth and ready for make up! After cleansing and apply my moisturiser of choice, I pat this into my skin and allow to sink in for a few seconds.

The packaging says apply make up immediately, but I like to give it a sec or two just to soak in properly. Once that's done, my skin feels plumped up and smooth, as though I've just given it a really good scrub. It also feels very moisturising on the skin which is great for me as I have quite dry skin, and you can feel that layer of moisture for the best part of 4-5 hours so my skin feels relieved of it's usual tight, flaky self.

As you can see, the product is a salmon pink/beige colour but when applied, goes on invisible. I find that my make up applies so effortlessly when I use this and lasts a lot longer. There is a funky scent to it which I can only describe as being similar to your Grandma's perfume, but I've grown to sort of like it and find it comforting, and haven't had any breakouts through the use of this balm.

Overall, I love this product! I think I will repurchase it after it runs out as I just haven't found anything as good as this!

shake it like a polaroid picture

If there's one thing that I love more than anything else, it's taking photographs. I love having the ability to stop time and freeze moments in a snapshot for me to treasure forever. I use my phone most of the time simply out of ease. It's difficult to carry a hefty DSLR around with you and technology these days means you can still get some incredibly detailed photos on your mobile devices.

For my 18th birthday last year, my boyfriend bought me a Polaroid camera and since then, I've taken over 100 photographs! It an be pretty pricey when you think about it as the film itself is quite expensive and works out to around £1 a shot. But I seriously love it! I take it everywhere with me and take photos of anything and everything, you can ask anyone who knows me! I have a huge memory box under my bed with all of my Polaroid's stored in there. Looking through them and seeing all the dates and notes written on them is a great way to perk up a miserable evening.

In the image above you can see some of my Polaroid pictures from the past few months. The quality isn't always 100% but I personally like that sort of washed out, vintage colour effect.

I would recommend buying an instant camera to anybody. It's such a rewarding hobby and my love for it grows with every new photograph I take.

Happy snapping!

nail polish by colour: blue

Blue. Bright, eye-catching and uplifting. Everyone appreciates a good blue nail polish and I've got my top three up for you here...

A lovely thick polish that you can get away with only one coat. I love the brush that No7 polishes have, it makes application a breeze! This colour is gorgeous, a great nail choice for holidays in the sun!

A gorgeous turquoise shade, this polish is my trusty blue that I always come back to! Looks great on both fingers and toes, and was a staple throughout the summer for me. It's bright and bold and really brings a whole outfit together. Love.

A great cheap alternative to more expensive polishes, this beautiful blue shade delivers every time with just one lick of colour. You do need to shake it up if it has been left standing for a while, but that doesn't affect the overall colour a single bit!

I hope you enjoyed this little series! Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!

nail polish by colour: nude

Nude nail polishes are some of my absolute favourites. They look so chic and sophisticated and never go out of fashion! Here are some of my favourite classic nude shades...

A gorgeous classy shade! Just the right amount of pink mixed with a neutral beige gives this amazing colour that adds a lovely vintage touch. As with all Models Own polishes, the formula is excellent and so is the staying power.

Every girl needs a white nail polish in their collection and this super pigmented one from No7 is an excellent choice! I use this all over for a great fresh and clean nail look, or save it for the tips to create an ultra feminine French manicure!

My all time favourite nude! The right shade of nude without being too pale or too dark. If you're looking for the perfect neutral shade, look no further!

nail polish by colour: coral

For the first instalment of my Nail Polish By Colour series, I'm going to be chatting about all things coral! I love coral shades, and think they look really pretty against all skin colours which is good for people like me who are terribly pale! It doesn't wash me out or make me look like I have horrible bony hands which some colours can do.

I think this may have been a limited edition with a partnership with Fabulous magazine a few years ago, so sorry for including this but there are alternatives. But this is just my perfect punchy orange shade! The right amount of neon makes it fun whilst still being sophisticated. A beautiful shade!

I've always been a big fan of the Hot Looks collection ever since I first started wearing nail polish! It's cheap and cheerful and there are so many shades to choose from. Big Hair is a bright red the just oozes Hollywood glamour. A very grown up shade whilst still looking fresh and uplifting.

Everybody and their mum went mad for the Gelly Nail Paints, and with good reason! The shades a beautiful but the formula of these polishes is something I don't think we've ever seen in the drugstore before! Glossy and long lasting, these are well worth the pocket money price tag and Satsuma is my perfect coral shade.

max factor clum defy mascara

An oldie, but a goodie!

Max Factor do some of the best drug store mascaras in my opinion. They always seem to be on top of the lash-building competition with products such as the False Lash Effect and the Masterpiece MAX.

As you can see, I bought the shade Black/Brown as I feel that this colour looks the most natural on me. I really like the brush as it fits really nicely against the lashes which makes it really easy to apply the product. The formula is good, but doesn't last very long before it starts to flake which most mascaras do on me! I doesn't clump at all which is good, but it doesn't give me the volume that I so desire.

Overall, even though I think there are better options out there, I do like this mascara for every day use. It is available at Boots here for £10.99, but be sure to check for their regular offers!

revlon just bitten kissable balm stains

Okay, so I'm pretty late on the bandwagon with these. But they're something that I use daily and felt that I should share with you!

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are a pencil-shaped lipstick that glides on smoothly with a glossy finish. After a few hours the gloss fades away and you are left with a pretty stain on your lips that lasts ages. And I do mean ages! I once wore the bright pink shade out on a night round the town and when I woke up the next morning, my lips were still just as pink as they were when I applied the lipstick! I had to go to work with ultra bright fuchsia lips and got a few funny looks, but I was incredibly impressed with the staying power!

Honey is my most favourite shade. I find that it is just slightly darker than my natural lip colour and makes for a suitable sweep of deep pink on days when I want to spruce up my make-up but still look quite natural and fresh faced.

I love these stains, and I hear that Revlon are bringing out matte versions too!

lace collar

I love a good collar as much as the next person, but this one from Primark recently caught my eye! The item of clothing in question is a plain, light black jumper that feels snug without being too warm to wear under a thick coat and scarf. There is than a pretty white lace collar attached to the neckline. I frequently layer up my jumpers with tops that have collars on them, and this makes it so much easier as you only have to put on one top that does it all!

I think I bought this for about £12 which I think is great considering the quality and how much wear i'll be getting out of it! It's definitely one to be picking up during the cold months!

good things that happened in 2013

Some time in 2012, I stopped writing in my journal/diary as it became too time consuming. I started thinking of alternative ways that I could keep a record of memories from the whole year and came up with this: "Jar of Good Things That Happened in..." I took a glass coffee jar that was going to be recycled and stuck a little label on the front. I wanted to keep the jar within sight in my bedroom so that I would never forget about it, so I placed this little charm bracelet over the top of it to make it look a little more decorative.

Since January 1st 2013, I have written notes on memories that I have experienced onto scrap pieces of paper and placed them in this small glass jar. On New Year's Day I decided to open them all up and re-live some of my best memories of the year of 2013. It was so nice to remember some of the things that I have accomplished and conquered!

There is now a huge pile of notes on my bedroom floor! I never realised how many notes I had actually written for this jar, but I loved being able to look through them all again! Here are some of my 2013 highlights as written on my notes...

1. I passed my driving test in early January last year!

2. I booked my first holiday abroad without my parents!

3. During the Perseid Meteor Shower, me and my dad saw eight shooting stars! (I can tick that off my bucket list now)

4. At college, I was nominated for (and won!!!) the Design Student of the Year award!

5. Me and Jack celebrated our four year anniversary together <3

I would whole heartedly recommend doing this! It isn't too late either, just grab yourself a jar, box or any other type of container and get scribbling. It's so heart warming and lovely to read through memories from the year just gone.

Happy Sunday, guys!
